Why hello there

This was taken kind of off the cuff when we were taking some pictures of a couple of friends who recently got engaged. Playing with a friend's Nikkor 28-70mm 2.8. The thing is ridiculous and heavy and now I hurt along the right side of my body from the hefting. Well and the part where I am ridiculously out of shape.

Guard

one of the guards at the Chiang Kai-Shek memorial. These ceremonial guards are so interesting, and I love how immaculate they always are. The most well groomed of guards.

What is "woof" in Chinese?

There are a lot of dogs in Taiwan. Some stray, some not. I see a lot of them in stores. It makes me miss my own puppy. This guy was just hanging out in front of his store, waiting for something to happen.

Food

In Taiwan, I'm just eating. All the time. I'm eating about twelve times a day. This place is by the Taipei Main Station, it's this amazing Japanese buffet and all of the food is just very prettily presented. We've gone here three times now, and each time it makes me happy in the little ways the food is laid out even in an "all you can eat" style. And then I stumble out and walk to the electronics expo and look at all the shiny things I'm not allowed to buy.

My brother

On my brother's list of requirements for lodging. Safe. Beds. Wifi. Not anywhere on his list - a haircut. noncryptic hats.

Travel

This is my standard travel kit for any given time period. The shame of it all is that the majority of the blue roll on is filled with chargers and knitting.

In Taiwan this week. The last 24 hours has been airports and podcasts and trying to find a comfortable sleeping position...anywhere.

Happy New Beer

Went to St Arnold's Brewery today. Beautiful day, tasty beer. That's their Winter Stout and it's pretty yummy.
